Privacy Policy

App: Reelog (Android)

Effective date: October 29, 2026

Contact: iftahs@gmail.com

Reelog is a private movie library. This policy explains what the app stores, what it sends over the internet, and how you can delete it.

The short version

  • Your library stays on your phone. There is no account and no developer server.
  • The app has no ads, no analytics, no crash reporting and no tracking.
  • To search for films and show posters and IMDb scores, the app sends what you search for, and film IDs, to two public movie databases: TMDB and OMDb.
  • The developer receives none of your data.

What the app stores on your device

  • The films in your library, whether each is "Want to watch" or "Watched", your 1 to 5 rating, and your viewings (with a date, or marked "date not remembered").
  • Film details copied from TMDB: title, year, runtime, genres, top cast, overview, poster and the film's IMDb ID.
  • The IMDb score, copied from OMDb.
  • Posters downloaded from TMDB, so your library still looks right offline.
  • Your settings: theme, accent color, default tab and sort order.

All of this is kept in the app's private storage on your phone. The app does not ask for your name, email address or location, and it does not use your contacts, camera, microphone or photos.

What the app sends over the internet

The app only talks to these services. All requests use HTTPS.

TMDB (api.themoviedb.org)What is sentThe text you type in Search, and TMDB film IDsWhyTo find films and get their details and cast
TMDB (image.tmdb.org)What is sentPoster file pathsWhyTo show and save posters
OMDb (omdbapi.com)What is sentIMDb film IDsWhyTo get the IMDb score

These requests happen when you search, open a film, add a film, refresh a film's details, or when the app downloads a missing poster, updates an old IMDb score, or refreshes film details that are about five months old for a film already in your library.

What is not sent: your ratings, your viewing dates, the rest of your library, or any account or device identifier.

Like any internet request, these services can see your IP address and basic technical details. The requests use the app's own API keys, which identify the app, not you.

TMDB and OMDb are separate from Reelog and from each other. We do not control what they log, and their own terms and privacy policies apply to what they receive:

Android backup

If Android backup is turned on for your phone, Android may copy the app's data (your library and settings; downloaded posters are left out of the Google account copy) to your own Google account, and restore it when you set up a new phone. Android may also copy the app's data directly from your old phone to a new one during setup, which can include the downloaded posters. The Google account backup is handled by Google under Google's terms and privacy policy. The developer cannot see it. To stop it, turn off backup in your phone's Android settings (usually Settings > System > Backup, or Settings > Google > Backup).

Export and import

  • Export writes a CSV or JSON file with your library (titles, years, status, ratings, genres, runtime and viewing dates; the JSON file also has cast, overviews and film IDs) and opens Android's share sheet. You choose where it goes. Once you share it, the app you chose controls that copy. A temporary copy may stay in the app's cache until Android or you clear it.
  • Import lets you pick a JSON file. The app reads it on your phone and does not upload it.

Deleting your data

  • Settings > Delete all data removes your films, viewings and downloaded posters from the app.
  • Uninstalling the app removes everything the app stores on your phone, including settings.
  • Export files you saved or shared, and any Android backup in your Google account, are outside the app. Delete them where you saved them or in your Google account's backup settings.

The developer holds no copy of your data, so there is nothing for us to delete on our side. To delete what TMDB or OMDb may have logged, contact them.

Children

Reelog is intended for adults and is not directed at children. It does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone. Films, posters and overviews shown in the app come from TMDB and can include mature themes.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will update the effective date above and publish the new version at this same address. For changes that affect what the app sends or stores, we will also say so in the release notes of the app update on Google Play.
